A big thanks to David Cohen for the pick of the week in artcritcal online magazine. Referring to Mary Ann Strandell’s “Fragonard Room” as PomoRococo. (original post here)

This sumptuous hypertextual collision of the postmodern and the Rococo is Mary Ann Strandell’s contribution to Symbiotaxiplasm, an exhibition curated by Savannah Spirit at SS Projects through February 16. A large ink drawing applied directly to the wall traces in appropriately feathery and ephemeral strokes the period room of the same title at the Frick Collection and forms the backdrop to what the artist identifies as “the hyperspace worlds” of her 3D Lenticular prints. “Together they mash into a symbiotaxiplasm experience pausing on various highs and lows of cultural memes – utopic and distopic – in what was the age of comfort,” she writes in an accompanying statement. Standell’s co-exhibitors are Man Bartlett, Colin Kilian, Anne Arden MacDonald, Bradford Reed and the anonymous author of an olfactorily exquisite scent installation. DAVID COHEN

Busy, busy, busy!

Just a few announcements regarding what I’m doing this fall!

I’m currently putting together a new show titled “Symbiotaxiplasm” which is a word coined by philosopher Arthur Bentley. It’s essentially another word to describe interconnectedness. This show brings together 6 artists: Man Bartlett, Colin Kilian, Anne Arden McDonald, Libby Patterson, Bradford Reed and Mary Ann Strandell. Symbiotaxiplasm is about the important connection you feel with yourself, each other, nature and the world around you. It’s personal yet poignant and a theme that I feel everyone can relate to, especially in the 21st century. So stay tuned. That’s going to be in late October.

I’m also relaunching The Inside Series through the Mondrian Soho Hotel. This project invites collectors to enter into the artist studio. The space where the magic happens. It’s an opportunity to purchase work directly from the artist and giving an accessibility into the New York art world for the curious and interested. And that launches this week!

October 1st I’m guest curating an online photography show tapped by one of NYC’s most beloved curators, Ruben Natal-San Miguel. I’m still working on it and don’t want to spill the surprise but it will be a precursor to “Symbiotaxiplasm.” Check it online at Photo Gallerino.

If you have any questions or inquiries please feel free to contact me anytime!
Happy Fall season!
